I came across a topic on DHR which is really interesting to read...and IMO sadly so true. It worries me when i hear the bunch of protools computergame riddims with every few weeks a new artist on it that believes he's the next dancehall superstar ... Let me quote from the topic on DHR: "I want to hear chest crushing bass and a cymbal crash that sounds like a fuckin thundercrack... And throw some ECHO on that shit. Get a good guitarist, horn section and some HARMONIES. THAT'S reggae. Is that too much to ask? As for dancehall, it needs to be slowed the fuck down, the bass has to come back and the DRUM PATTERNS and SOUNDS have to be CREATIVE. I'm so fucking sick of the orchestra synth pads that come with every cheapshit keyboard ever made taking place of a real bassline." This is the topic on DHR: forum.dancehallreggae.com/showthread.php?t=185994Hopefully the music as i love it will not totally fade away in the future..

And some other quotes from DHR:
*These nowadays riddims will never be classics some of them dont even last a good six months
These new riddims arent dancehall at all its pop music......
and all who are spiritual knows that pop music is bowout and sell out music...every genere that became pop where first music you could hear with your heart.....had true emotions.....
But notice any music once it becomes popish looses its authenticity...and becomes sort a like a fad...
The formula POP + Real music = death of authenticity....It happen to hiphop it happen to funk they call it disco.....it happen to blues they call it rock n roll.
now its happening to reggae.....just call it faggae now.....*
