OW SEG MA IK SPREEK OOK VRIJ GOE ZWEEDS HEB HET FF RAP VERTAALD SE ;-)
Congratulations to the win. You have worked hard for this title. How does it feel to be the Riddim Clash 2008 champions? · Good , we are getting a lot of positive feedback from people all over the globe that enjoyed the clash and line up. We are glad the clash prep’s are over still , cause it drains allot of energy …. But its time now for us to enjoy the title , playing out in Europe and looking forward to defend our title next year …
· How did you prepare for this clash? Strategies etc...
· Well we had some strategie’s , but mainly we focused on our own strength. Strategie is kinda hard to plan with 6 sounds playing. We played 5th position so a lot of tunes were rinsed out already, so we had to adjust the gameplan during the clash anywayz. In the end it was all about bomb rushing with big tunes and keeping a few key tunes we knew that would connect like for example the original rock tune from Luciano and some gimmik tunes like flex in battyrider wich were shure shots ….
· Such a big clash needs a different aproach then a one vs one clash , on such a big stage with a big audience you can not forget that vibes and gimmiks are still important to entertain big masses …. So called authentic clash fans will probably comment this , but then in the end this was a different concept involving 6 sounds with a lot of tunes and a whole heap a things to tell …. The “no footwear” was no real planned gimmik or strategie for example , but it was highly discussed on the internet and leaded to some funny arguments in the clash wich was entertaining still. Well were riddimclash 2008 winners now , so hope we can make some money to buy nice sneakers next year. ;-)
· There have been lots of different thoughts about the amount of "call-up" dubs played at the clash. What would you comment on that?
· Yes there were many custom tunes played by all sounds this year. I feel this is indeed becoming a standard/trend in euro clashes nowadays wich is discussable, but then you cant denie that it has a high entertaining value for the crowd. I think this trend might go on for a while , but then again its for the crowd to decide if they rate or dislike this.
· I guess in the case of civalizee , herbalize it , irie crew it really connected with the crowd and made us tree stand out compared to the other sounds.
· It seems like the whole world of clash fans are putting their eyes on EU right now. Is it really so? Why?
· Well i guess people like change from time to time , the same sounds and line up’s have been recycled for a while now oversea’s … When you look at europe you have a booming scene and a lot of new sounds with fresh & different idea’s. I think euro people also aproach and study there reggae music totally different then oversea’s , here it’s not always about the latest mavado or daseca riddim, people will also enjoy some ole times tunes they havent heard for years or like to be surprised by something they don’t know yet. One of the biggest forwards of the clash was for example Ken Parker and i don’t think a lot of the young people inside knowed that tune or artist, but i bet you that the one’s who really enjoyed that tune already did some research to find some music about him. Look there is not much money or fame to make in europe with reggae music even if there is a nice scene , so i think people from out of Europe feel it come’s from the heart and genuine passion for reggae music.
·
· What plans does Civalizee have for the future?
· We will soon release our first production featuring one of the hottest newcomers and civalizee artist PRESSURE … We supossed to to touch the road with him and ALAINE in february so i hope we can pass trough Sweden. Our booking intrest increased highly after riddim 2008 so we will be touring a lot in Europe and hopefully beyond next year and off course we looking out for a nice clash offer , you will definitely see us on the battlefield in 2009 !!!
·
· You have been to Sweden a few times and played in different clubs, cities and alongside some of Swedens biggest sounds. How would you describe the scene in Sweden?
We love the swedish girls above all still … but you guys have a very nice and lively scene. Our first intl booking years ago was in sweden so we always love to come back there. We played more recently a few dates in Scandinavia : Finland , Sweden , Denmark and i must say the reception was great and the vibes were big. One thing i loved about the sweden sounds is the nice balance between brand new bashment tunes and some old time digital stuff , i had the impression you guys really love vintage stuff. If i can comment a thing that’s a pitty : then its surely the early curfew by babylon , we are used to rock a dance till the eaaaarly morning , but then again you guys improvise wiked private afterparty’s , ow and a beer is way to expensive in sweden
